Microsoft is set to invest £2.5 billion (USD 3.2 billion) in the UK over the next three years to establish a significant AI infrastructure featuring more than 20,000 advanced GPUs by 2026. Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, emphasises the three critical areas of investment: AI infrastructure, talent and education programmes, and safety and security measures. The initiative aims to foster AI growth, create job opportunities, and enhance public security.

Queue Associates EMEA is following news and updates from Microsoft on its plans to collaborate with the UK government and universities, prioritising GPU access for research communities. The investment also includes training one million people in AI-related skills and promoting responsible AI practises. Microsoft’s strategic move aligns with the ongoing evolution of AI and underscores the importance of responsible development, safety, and education in navigating its transformative impact. This will support efforts for those utilising Microsoft services throughout the UK, including numerous Queue Associates clients.
